It cannot get any better than having a constant supply of freshly harvested microgreens from kitchen counter top to your meals! So much satisfaction and achievement to cook with what you grow! Microgreens grow relatively quick. It takes as fast as 7 days to harvest, depending on the variety. Unlike sprouts, the leaf and stem of microgreens can be eaten, not the roots. You can harvest them fresh when you are ready to use them, harvest the amount that you need and place them back on the window sill and continue to water them. Alternatively, pre-harvest them and keep it refrigerated, a proper storage can last 1-2 weeks. Both ways are great! Although it is fairly safe and clean to consume your homegrown microgreens, we still recommend you to wash them before use.
The beauty of growing your own microgreen is you can harvest based on recommended height or your personal preference in taste, appearance or texture. Microgreen flavours commonly change with age, we recommend to taste the microgreen throughout the growing period as the taste will differ just by days. Some microgreens may taste sweeter when they are younger and bitter as they grew longer. The amount of lights exposed may change the appearance and texture of microgreens too.
